Draft · pre-counsel
Artist terms
A working draft while Meek Earth Studio’s counsel reviews it. It describes what the software does today.
1. Your page and your record
- One record of you: photo, bio, five links and up to eight merch items, read everywhere your name appears on Meek Earth.
- Meek Earth Studio reviews every change against the published content standard before it is visible. An automated screening service (Sightengine) may score your text, photo, merch images and clips first, for the reviewer; a person makes every decision. Curation decisions are final.
- Merch links go to your own store. The studio takes no cut, adds no affiliate tag, and tips are yours in full.
- Posting: clips of your performances (90 seconds, MP4, original music only; you warrant authorship or control of the music and ownership or control of the footage) are hosted on Meek Earth’s own servers and reviewed against the content standard before they are visible. A clip tagged to a completed platform booking carries “Verified: performed via Meek Earth”. One approved post per 30 days may go to the Community Discovery Showcase for your city. An organizer’s clip of you is posted only after you sign the per-clip co-posting agreement at /post/terms; either of you can take it down at any time.
- Your work record is generated from your completed bookings and read by buyers booking through the platform only; you may add an artist-stated section and export the record to a link you control and can revoke.
2. Bookings
- You are an independent artist engaged directly by each buyer. Meek Earth Studio is the venue for the booking, not your agent or employer.
- You type every rate. The listing floor is $200 per hour per musician; nothing below it can be listed, and nothing is suggested.
- You accept or decline every request. Nothing nudges you either way, and declining never counts against you.
- Every charge is made on your own Stripe account. The buyer pays a 4% Community Space fee (at least $5) on top of your rate; it is never taken from your number. Stripe sends you your own tax forms.
- Get Artists lists in a mechanical, published order. Nobody pays to appear higher.
- Short notice: a toggle and a calendar you control. The toggle shows only while your calendar was saved in the last 30 days. “Short-notice ready” is a displayed label (three completed engagements, no active strikes, not under review) that buyers can filter on; it is never a gate, and there is no roster or on-call duty.
- Replacements: when another artist cancels, the buyer may send you an ordinary request for the date at your short-notice rate if you set one, else your rate for that kind of set. The buyer’s total is locked to their original booking and the platform charges no fee on a replacement; your rate is never cut. You have 4 hours to answer (1 hour inside 72 hours). A completed swap-in counts as three engagements toward strike expiry. Cancelling a confirmed swap-in pauses your Short-notice ready label for 90 days on top of the usual rules.
- Holds: a buyer may pay you $20 (no fee) to hold a date for up to 14 days, releasing 7 days before the date. You keep it either way; a performance is a separate request.
- Organizer bookings: an organizer books you the same way and you see, before accepting, whether it chose Standard or Insured coverage, whether it pays the whole price at booking, and any Guarantee Plus terms (85% of its listing’s ticket gross above its locked expenses plus 15%, paid after the event and split evenly among the artists booked on that listing). An organizer may ask once to reschedule, more than 14 days out, with up to three dates checked against your calendar; you pick one at your original rate or decline them all, which counts as its cancellation, never against you. An excused organizer cancellation inside 14 days pays you a 25% held-date payment.
3. If a buyer cancels
The buyer’s schedule: more than 30 days out their deposit is refunded minus the studio’s administrative fee; 14 to 30 days out you keep the deposit; under 14 days the full price is owed and the balance is charged to their card at once. A buyer’s cancellation never counts against your record.
4. If you cancel
- The buyer is refunded in full at once and pointed to a replacement; the platform fee is returned too.
- A reasonable reason (illness or injury from any licensed source, a death or emergency in your immediate family, force majeure, a good-faith safety concern, a documented transport failure) is verified within 7 days: a short video call with the platform’s Verifier, with recording and notetakers off, who checks only name, date within the window and licensed source, and records a yes or no. You hold the paper or PDF to the camera with diagnosis, treatment and cost covered; nothing is captured or stored. You may bring a witness and may ask once for a different verifier.
- Unverified, or “something else”: a cancellation credit to the buyer (10% of the price 14 to 30 days out, 25% under 14 days, 50% for a no-show; none over 30 days) and an administrative fee to the studio ($25 at 14 to 30 days, $50 under 14 days or a no-show), both settled directly through the settlement chat, never debited; plus one strike. Three active strikes delist you; strikes expire after 12 completed engagements or 12 months. Missing the verification call is not itself a strike; it makes the cancellation unverified.
- Three cancelled engagements in a row with no completed one between pause your profile for the studio’s review within 10 business days: reinstated, reinstated on probation of three completed engagements, or removed for six months with reapplication. You may send one written appeal to a board member who did not decide the review.
- A fabricated document or a false attestation is a material breach: permanent removal and recovery of any amount waived in reliance on it.
5. The settlement chat
Any amount you owe a buyer or the studio, or a buyer owes you, that no automatic charge settled is settled directly in the recorded chat on the booking. The platform records the amount, provides the chat and reviews amount disputes on request; it never debits your account, never collects, and never guarantees. While you have an open case you take no new bookings.
